Summary:
A gorgeous one eyed young collie cross from Romania looking for an experienced family, adult only. He has a beautiful personality but can be a little unsure of new things so needs another dog and needs happy confident people. He is looking for a fun active home who will take him on adventures and keep his brain active too.

Cairo is a lovely dog who at this very young age has already lost an eye. He came to the rescue in Romania with a very damaged eye that needed to be removed. He is a lovely dog and now that this difficult time is behind him, he can look forward to a much happier life. Cairo is what we call very ‘street’ in his temperament. Even though he has not spent a lot of time on the streets, being so young, he has all the traits we expect from these dogs. He is complex, highly intelligent, sensitive, highly in tune with other dogs and very good at reading people. He can be a little weary at first, he came to us quite an anxious dog, but soon became a very affectionate boy. He loves spending time with his people and having some attention and he loves playing with his puzzles where he has to find hidden treats! It’s one of his favourite things to do as well as going on forest walks obviously!
Cairo requires an experienced home, who will continue the training and the rehabilitation to some extent,

helping him become used to all things domestic. He may potentially guard a little, as he is a guarding breed, something any new home would need to work with, should it manifest. It may not at all, but we always like to discuss the possibility with those types of dogs. We offer behaviour support for the life of the dog so would help any family should they need additional expertise to support Cairo.
He will do great in the company of another dog or dogs so we would not look to place him as a single dog. He needs either an established dog in the home. He goes on big pack walks and play dates, but has the odd dog he does not take to, so introductions at the kennels before an adoption is of course essential.

All in all, he is a fabulous boy, great for anyone who does a lot with their dogs and wants to give a boy who has had so little to date in his life, the opportunity at experiencing true happiness.

IDEAL HOME:
An experienced, adult only home (we never place dogs who have shown some level of fear with children) and with another existing dog or dogs. Cairo also needs an active home, people with positive and up beat temperament themselves, and a good balance between a sensitive and loving approach and the ability to set boundaries and routines. Cairo would like a garden please in a suburban or rural area (i.e. not London city centre or with super busy roads right near the house).
He needs an active home who do a lot with their dogs and really put in the time and effort into them and spend a lot of time with them. Collie experienced is of course great for a dog like him.

Note: All our dogs go on home trial for two weeks before an adoption. We offer post adoption support and access to a behaviourist and trainer for the life of our dogs.
