IN A FEW WORDS:
Incredibly loving and affectionate, a little sunshine at the kennels, always greeting people at the front of her kennel, wagging her tail, hoping to get some attention and hoping that today will be the day that a family will come to adopt her. She never barks, even if everybody else is! A sweetie who has been with us far too long and deserves to be loved. Apart from her fear of traffic she is no trouble at all! She had a very in depth dental with us and is now a lot happier too for it. She is in great shape, so lots of adventures please, she can travel in the car well. She has good recall, great on the lead, house trained, and will be a good agility candidate if anyone wanted to do it with her.
WHY IS SHE AN UNDERDOG?
Being a black dog, she is overlooked as black dogs often are. She can also be a little anxious around other dogs, she has a few chosen friends but generally prefer the company of people. She is however very anxious around traffic so really needs to be taken on walks where she won’t have to deal with lots of cars but will travel to locations in the car very well. She has been completely overlooked over the time she has been with us and we cannot understand why, she so deserves a good life in a family.
IN MORE DEPTH
Aspen is a loving and happy girl who above all loves her interactions with her human friends. Although she may be a little submissive with new people, she soon makes friends. Aspen is such a sweet dog who enjoys her high levels of exercise and training as much as she enjoys a cuddle with her people. She will make a family extremely happy, they will get back all the love and affection tenfold.

Aspen is however anxious of quite a few dogs, she is somewhat unsure of herself and because of this, she has a select number of doggy friends that she likes but is not always keen to go out of her comfort zone. Aspen is also noise sensitive, and this
shows when out on her walks; she can be very nervous of moving traffic and sudden loud noises. Her new family will need to be aware of this when out with her.

We do our best to accommodate Aspen’s needs to live as stress-free as possible here at the kennels, but as we are in a busy area, it can prove difficult not to expose her to things she finds stressful. Aspen would love to live in a more rural or quiet environment with lots of open space, walks and adventures. A city/urban setting would not be appropriate for her. She has no problem with car travel, which makes her life easier as we can take her to quiet places for her to have a good sniff around! Aspen needs a family with an active lifestyle, who have a good amount of time to spend with her, to keep her both physically and mentally stimulated- she is a clever cookie!

IDEAL HOME
Aspen needs to be placed in an adult only home as an only dog. She would be ideal for anyone who lives in a more rural location and who like to do a lot with their dogs such as long country walks, running, trekking etc.. Anything where she can spend time with her people, be outdoor but not have to face traffic or too many dogs who she feels intimidated by. We know she will appeal to the collie and shepherd lovers and the rescuers at heart who take it upon themselves to make the life of a dog a better one, and give them opportunities to blossom, that they would not otherwise get.
Be sure to send us an enquiry form if you can see yourself and Aspen living a happy life together!

NOTE:
All our dogs go on home trial for two weeks before an adoption.
We offer post adoption support for the life of our dogs, helping with behaviour training and all other aspects of having a dog.
