Our Dogs...

Important Notes

You may not see the right dog for you on the selection below, but by all means do send us an application, as we always have other dogs coming in, and very often, not all our dogs feature on the website.

Only families have who been homechecked AND who have an appointment with the kennel team within the following 2 weeks to view a dog will have priority viewing on their first choice.

Hipo is a wonderful young dog who sadly lost one of his legs in a traffic accident in his native Romania. He is however not hindered whatsoever by the fact that he only has 3 legs. He can play and run the same as any other dog.
Hipo has spent time in foster during his recovery time following his amputation so he has learnt the basics and is house trained.
He is an incredibly clever dog, inquisitive and into everything. He will need a family who want to do activities with him and keep his brain engaged. He does not deal well with boredom so an active home, who is very much focussed on the life of their dogs is what Hipo needs. We feel that he would do well with other dogs in a home as he may feel less pressured to take the lead, enabling him to take more of a back seat. He is a sensitive little guy too, and will need a family able to read him well.
His foster family really enjoyed having him and here is what they had to say:
'We've loved having him, he has got on brilliantly with Jess, and we believe he needs to be re-homed with another dog. He especially loves dogs who play in the same style as him, primarily another shepherd, collie, or spaniel. We saw very few signs of guarding, he prefers women but never tried to guard either of us.
He's so active, we have been doing 4-5 hour walks every day, but with those walks he is excellent in the house and sleeps most the time. He is also very clever and food orientated, which is excellent when training him. He has made lots of new friends out on walks and has been very well behaved the majority of the time.
He has two main areas that would require work, firstly he is very vocal, there is normally a reason behind this, he either wants something (a walk, a treat, food) or on walks when he sees other dogs/people. Once you understand him you can nullify the first reason, and as he trusts you he gets better and better around strangers. What helps this is he does have good recall. Secondly, he doesn't enjoy being on lead, if the lead is preventing him from playing he will attempt to chew the lead. We've worked on this and he is very good at dropping the lead, but like a kid he will attempt to push you. I found it part of his charm. He travels in the car excellently and sleeps very well. Jess, our dog will miss him a lot. We've loved having him and have no doubt he will find a home soon.'
If you are a committed, very experienced home who loves the shepherd breed, please get in touch via the application form online.
