Important Notes

You may not see the right dog for you on the selection below, but by all means do send us an application, as we always have other dogs coming in, and very often, not all our dogs feature on the website.

Only families have who been homechecked AND who have an appointment with the kennel team within the following 2 weeks to view a dog will have priority viewing on their first choice.

My name is:

LOCATION: Waltham Abbey
Butch is an extremely friendly and affectionate boy who bears the scars of a hard life. He is a dog no one in the rescue will forget as he has such presence. When Butch first arrived into the rescue he was in a bad shape and a bit of a plodder who liked to stroll along at a gentle pace with stops to take in the scenery and wildlife. He has since put on an extra 30% of weight, he went from 20kg to a healthy 30kg and has found great energy. He loves to run in the paddock and is quite the master at zoomies!
He does however have arthritis and is on medication for it, which means that in terms of walk he will need shorter walks (20 minutes or so) several times a day if possible. When out and about, he is fine about traffic, horses, or new people he encounters, however he can be a bit choosy with dogs. He is not keen on larger males or bull breeds.
Butch is very responsive to treats and enjoys some training. It's good for him to remain stimulated and whoever said you can't teach an old dog new tricks?
Personality wise, he is the most adorable of characters and wins the heart of all he meets! He has spent time in foster with Blair and Shona, who adored having him as a guest. He is a relaxed character and is happy with any attention and a little space on the sofa if possible at all :)
Butch is ideally suited to a relaxed and caring home where he can live out his life without stress and with lots of love. He has a real presence and we anticipate that he will develop further in a home. We are looking to place Butch with a family who have dog experience. He needs regular short walks but can't handle a huge trek, so a family not necessarily looking to walk miles with their dog. We do not rehome senior dogs with children as we feel they enjoy a quieter life and Butch's prey drive means he cannot live with cats and small furries. He will do well as an only dog or with another calm dog, preferably female.
